Excuse my ignorance, as I don’t fully understand how a stock is shorted, however is it possible MUFG are hedging there bets in case results in Feb are bad and they own a large stake of EML? Why would they become a substantial holder in the first place? Why not just go short if they believe Feb is going to be bad?
MUFG also increased there holding recently. When someone shorts a stock don’t they borrow the shares, rather than own them?
