Barrick can walk away and take the hit without serious impact, whereas RSG and TRE would lose their crown jewel and so are much more compromised in their responses.
I agree that market sentiment towards WAF and other miners with northern West African interests will be impacted, but not all of their host countries are so dependent on mining revenues as Mali which is also facing more severe insurgent pressures without the help of France these days (military and financial).
