I expect they did a probabilistic cost/risk analysis one the various likely eventualities and deemed it not worth the extra cost - shit happens despite best efforts in such uncertain endeavours.

I don't know why you are still having this deep water nightmare. There has not been a hint of such trouble in several communications fron CVN, and even if there had been a total cone of silence that would not mitigate such gross nondisclosure to the ASX.

Besides you can't have loss of control without evidence, eg massive flare, emergency mobilisations from Singapore etc. Panic leaks too.

Something does seem likely to me to have gone wrong, but more of the humdrum routine nature of equipment troubles or regulatory delays etc. Frustrating yes, but I see not a shred of evidence of disaster or loss of well control?
