It ALL depends on the capacity of the plant as to how long construction will be. Nuke submarine reactors, man safe enough to have men standing next to them and others not so far away sleeping, would make much better sense. They are factory made and sealed, and can be recharged back at the factory. As long ago as twenty years this concept was put into the market but silence was the result.

There is no reason Australia could not set up a factory to make 100 MW base load units. Current installed capacity is about 90 GW. 70% is coal based. A steady turnover to replace all coal over 20 years would require 63 x 100 MW units, three per year. We would have a facility that could recharge the subs in 20 years when they need recharging and we have competency to do so.

What do we have instead? A PM who cries. Goodness knows what he might do if there is a shot fired in anger. Poop I guess.
