Hi there Kikker. Rubies are not like gold and other similar commodities, rubies vary considerably in quality. Saying the neighbors sold ruby for $67 p/ ct, so that is what MUS will get, is akin to two car yards that sell cars. One sells HYUNDAIs, the other luxury BMWs. So dealer 1, sold 10 cars for $20k, does that means of dealer 2 sells 10 luxury BMW's he can expect the same?

Of course not. So MUS's neighbor sold a significant amount of COMMERCIAL RUBY from their primary deposit. Commercial ruby sells for between 20 cents to $2 p/ ct. It is used as an abrasive in sand papers, amongst other things. They also sold some gem quality ruby, but that would have been at significantly higher prices that the average of the auction at $67.

MUS are selling ONLY gem quality rubies at this auction. There is enough info for you to do the math. I would suggest you do some research
