I wouldn't be hanging out for positive news.
In the past it has always been a cue for ML to dump more shorts on the pile.
The action lately has been a puzzle. It's looked like very few buyers have been active and the general market is still scared to join in. There have been several pauses with no trades for an hour or more and the buyers have been careful to avoid chasing the price upwards - always happy to sit back and wait for the sell queue to rebuild before coming back to take more.
Selling down today is out of character with yesterday but similar to Tuesday 21 Aug when it fell after a big rise.
It doesn't appear to have ML's shorting fingerprints all over it yet.
Trying to read between the trades, there could still be accumulation going on with a clever operator looking to pick up more DTE at a nice price.
