An interesting article on the challenges of replacing the current BECS payment system for superannuation payments with the NPP (New Payments Platform) which the Government is championing.
The GNBG (and thus by extension the superannuation industry) are not in favour of replacing the current batch payment system BECS with the NPP (real time payment system) until transaction volume at scale is proven.
"Currently, not all financial institutions and accounts are enabled for NPP, and while this is expected to change over time, consistent and reliable processing of payments across the NPP needs to be demonstrated beyond question prior to the wide-scale adoption of the technology"
