I think the jury is out on what battery technology will ultimately be the holy grail for EVs. There are a lot of technologies being developed for batteries at the moment e.g Vandium based batteries for large scale storage. Lithium is the best option for RVs right now might ultimately it might be a transition battery metal due to the thermal risks it has.

Some interesting develops in Europe which might slow down EV adoption:

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/german-synthetic-fuels-row-threatens-planned-eu-combustion-engine-ban-2023-02-28/

Germany and six allies are fighting against the 2035 mandate to effectively ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in Europe, pushing for synthetic fuels to be allowed as a viable alternative.

The idea behind synthetic fuels is they are carbon neutral - can likely be used in existing vehicles or slightly modified ICEs, use exiting technology and infrastructure and solve the current distance/charging issues EVs currently have.

Not saying EVs will not be the future but it is interesting that major car maker are supporting the moves in Europe for synthetic fuels. Toyota also for example has pursued hybrids but not really committed to any large extend to full EVs yet.
