And if it's a good report, the sp can still go down, or open lower and recover...depends on what the selling agenda is.
Case in point...look at the SUN result from last week, excellent bottom line result (NPAT up 57.7% over same prior period).
Check out the SUN chart action...that 4.5% drop on open on results day was almost made completely back during the same day, then surpassed in days subsequent.
The SUN results day trading moved 14.76M shares, a good days trading if you were looking to re-weight a portfolio to the lighter side without causing too much stock/sp concern.
IMO.
