Hot on copper


CuDeco was facing some pretty vitriolic reactions from shareholders this week over its decision to hold a vote on whether to reward chairman Wayne McCrae with an options package worth more than $25 million.


"Seems to have greed written all over it," said a poster called combi on popular daytrader web forum HotCopper.

But in what appears to be a case of good timing, the company announced last night that a geophysical survey has tripled the length of the strike trend at its Rocklands deposit from 1.2 kilometres to 3.6 kilometres. It also announced some more drill hole results - albeit mostly lower grades than its original resource estimate.

Most HotCopper posters were pleased with the news and are expecting shares to go for a massive run today as the announcement was made after the close of trading.

But as one more cynical observer noted: "[The announcement] adds more polish to the director's push for ridiculously cheap oppies [share options]."

CuDeco shares closed 14c higher at $3.91 yesterday.
