As I recall Stanwell have the right to expand outside the original area as far as they need to until they prove up the necessary reserves.It was a bad decision on their part to commit to the next phase but then they are a Govt owned company and reluctant to admit their error.
Now you have to ask the question ,....."why would they carry on drilling in this permit?"
My guess is that they can pull out at any time , so one or two more dud wells might see them throw in their hand.
The only thing that will move the sp now is news of a big gas purchase deal to satisfy the GSA but the problem with that is firstly finding a seller, and secondly buying it a price that still lets ICN make a profit.
As we all know , it is much cheaper and far more profitable to explore and find you own gas, but as ICN seems not to know, you need to do lots and lots of drilling .
