I don't think Franklin does a short game

Franklin is a very big successful conglomerate of funds, and I don't doubt that they are capable of anything that helps their fund perform. The big fund I referred to did not short stock itself, it just lent its newly purchased stock to a bank. And made a formal announcement about doing so. Who knows?

I must admit my view of Qantas is coloured by some actions it has taken to stymie its competition on regional routes. We don't read about it in the papers, however the outcome of a recent court case might blow the lid. The case is over but no judgement has been handed down. The action they took was lawful but very 'clever'. If they applied the same level of innovation to their general business there would be no stopping them.
