BHPs debt is now low, as they’ve held back dividends since 2016, debt is not an issue now. Albeit the dividends have been good, they paid off debt too, learning the mistakes that unravelled in 2016. Which was also the greatest buying opportunity in BHP in a life time. So thankyou to those short term fund managers who indiscriminately dumped this brilliant company with other peoples money, and conversely made me a fortune.
Commodities in general are a good inflation hedge. BHP is more diversified than its only real competitor RIO. If you’re a trader, sure, maybe now is a good time to offload and seek better returns elsewhere. However I am not a trader, so I will hold this forever as part of a key stock for any large diversified portfolio. I haven’t bought any more shares since COVID crash at $27.01.
