The US is going to be going through something called stagflation, google the term and dyor, in simple terms it means inflation will be rising yet the economy will be slowing, a mini Zimbabwe or Venezuela if you will, where inflation went through the roof yet unemployment was 70% + and GDP fell 30%
once your in stagflation it's a very difficult road out, if you try and raise rates to crush inflation your slowing the economy even further, you cut rates to try and stimulate growth, inflation gets more out of control
