It will be interesting to follow developments over the next month or so. BHP paid way, way, way too much for Billiton all those years ago. However under the current board and CEO they walked away from the Noront deal and got OZ Minerals for a sensible price when the consensus was that they would increase the bid. I don't anticipate that BHP will offer too much. If I had to bet it would be on the takeover not coming to fruition.
