There is a glaring difference between NEU and VLA. The only interested party was MERCK. The shareholders of VLA were extremely lucky that offer came along. MERCK had a particular gap in their program that they thought VLA would fill. It was niche.
Some takeovers go another direction. The liver cancer company was going to be sold of at about $5 but last minute a second buyer stepped in. $18 was the eventual sale price .Sorry the company name escapes me at the moment.
NEU won’t be sold cheap. A deep pipeline of rare orphan drugs is rarer than rocking horse nuggets.
