I've been thinkin.....if someone is looking to put a low-ball offer in for the company then all this bot trading driving the price lower makes sense....

...big deal if they spend half a billion dollars driving the price lower (they've been admirably successful at that) and they make a $100 million or so loss on the share price drop. If they put an offer in for $20 bucks a share and take the company out, they've probably saved themselves a few billion....

Getting very close to the company needing to spend decent dollars on a share buyback, or why not declare a nice dividend ??)...does not the company have a fiduciary responsibility to (try and) protect shareholders from a cheap takeover, or am I dreaming that ?

Maybe its time to think outside the square, a poison chalice deal and sub out the development of a couple of phase 3 trials so any potential buyer has to contend with different companies....it may make them think again....I realise this would be an anathema to many shareholders, but if we are going to get screwed over, it would be nice to go down fighting...
