It will be interesting to see the broker data and short data for these last few days.

I was bored so took a deeper dive of the data on the 26/03/25 where the share price dropped -5.8% despite the company buying 117,556 shares or $1.425m worth of shares on that day.

117,556 shares is a reasonable amount so it should have a reasonable impact. On that day the Broker who generated the largest net change in shares (buyer) was Jefferies with 122,273 net shares added on that date. Clients of theirs added 4,717 shares not related to the buyback but the purposes of the comparison I will use the full 122,273 as a % of volume.

YFinance reports 999,532 volume for that date. I get 1,098,865 instead from broker data but I believe yFinance doesn't include the roughly 10% of trades on the CXA so that makes sense.

First of all UBS acounts for 47.53% of all volume (Both Directions). Proportionally, Jefferies net buying accounted for 11.13% of that volume figure. UBS's net selling figure accounts for 20.44% of all volume.

There was a 319,754 increase to short position which represents a pretty large 29.10% percentage of volume (ie 3 times the impact of the SBB). The increase of short position on this day was a 5.51% (proportional) increase compared to the prior day.

I was curious and I went over the last year of short data and these are the largest percentage increase in shorts (relative).

    1. 04/12/2024 (Share buy back commenced)
    2. 26/03/2025 (Date Above)
    3. 09/05/2024 (Q1 Result 2024)
    4. 15/01/2025 (Previous 52 week low)

    The biggest decrease (Covering)
    1. 06/03/2025 (Transfer/not on market)
    2. 16/01/2025 (The day after the previous 52 week low)
    3. 10/10/2024 (Both of these below were capitulation points before new lows were made later) - Morrison and Jefferies were the largest net sellers on these days - not the US based invesment banks.
    4. 30/10/2024 (Wealthub largest net seller, second Canaccord)

    Note: YYYY-MM-DD
Note: Don't know if transfers are counted in overall volume.
Note: Broker data volume data being null is fine. I use a combination of data sources and the broker trade data only goes back 30 days.
Note:Once I figure out a nice clean way to share the raw data (that is correctly licensed) I will.
