Actually the real figure is only a tad over 5% SOI net short sold. The short interest ratio must be a some type of calculation relative to volume.
The gross shorts show 632,196 new shorts added yesterday alone which is the bottom line of the chart. That's huge. It doesn't show what shorts were closed but that is about 1/4 of all volume really adding fuel to the fire and that has to be encourage capitulation. When you remove this and the churn that occurs it makes you think how many legitimate sellers there were yesterday? Probably not that many despite what it seemed like.
