I think Trump is out to level the playing field, like he is trying to do with tariffs.

He is undoubtedly annoyed that many other countries are free-loading off the 'greatness' of American medical research by paying for low drug prices while Americans are paying so much more. That is a reasonable point, so some might have hit the nail on the head with the scenario of what has been mentioned about Acadia's approach to Daybue now in Canada. Why would you let Canada free ride? This might force them to start paying more or miss out altogether.

In my view, Trump's deep-seated issue is someone or something having one over him.

I doubt Trump has an ethical issue with companies making money, but he detests being taken for a ride by others so could reducing prices in the USA by a figure closer to his minimum of 30% (or less) and making the other countries pay up so the people of the USA feel appeased and the American pharma companies still win because their lost revenue will be made up by other countries paying more to them? This savagely blunt tactic (pity our Rett kids around the world) would put foreign governments under enormous pressure to start paying more and to front up for the health of their people.

In his upcoming announcement, I also wouldn't put it past him to throw in some specifics beyond pricing and come out with plans to get drugs to people faster, on top of being cheaper. He loves delivering good news.

Like a few of you, I was buoyant after last week's price increase with the expectation of more news soon, so today was deflating, but I still firmly believe in 2591's relative value to Daybue and other drugs out there. If 2591 loses lots of potential value, heaven help the rest of the bio companies out there.

I really didn't like today, and probably won't enjoy tomorrow but Trump is predictable. He will always bring a gun to a knife fight, so after the initial shock wears off, it might not be so bad after all for American pharma.
