Yes I'm well aware of the potential increase in value when it comes to a takeover. It was a tongue in cheek comment trying to turn a frustrating downturn into humour. I generally have the big picture in mind but occasionally I like the thrill of a substantial increase in wealth when the sp goes up .
I had a figure lying around somewhere of how much potential value per share increases when shares get bought back concerning a takeover. I think @Vapor had a running tally of that estimation as well as other data in his buyback spreadsheet too.
