It is a very strange world we live in potstocks.
No one should ever go to the States without having the highest possible health insurance.
They know how to extract money from their medical system.
And if you do not have money………
But they did set up a capitalist system to incentivise orphan drug development. Including tax breaks for development. It has worked very well. And looks like too well as it may start to get some restrictions placed around it, to keep it focused on the original purpose. As it is getting expensive.
I still cant find a clear answer on how poor people without insurance can access orphan drugs. Other than perhaps medicaid. But I cant get an idea of what they charge the patient.
