I understand the argument about the blinding being ruined by the diarrhea, but I think that it is unlikely to be an issue because of the placebo results.
Placebo patients also had diarrhea, yet the results were "statistically significant" which is a massive statement in science because it indicates even though some patients with the placebo had diarrhea, they did not have the same improvements the group receiving the medicine did, further proving the medicine works. Nothing is ever 100% certain, but this is as close as it gets.
