Yes, I don't think anyone with full knowledge of orphan drug pricing and Retts would have been expecting $100k to $150k. It was frankly pretty obvious that was not going to be the price.

As several on this forum (including myself) and at least 1 analyst pointed out it was clear that the likely price was way over this - just look at pricing of other comparable orphan drugs. Any objective analysis of this data pointed pretty clearly to >$250k to $300k .

In other words, although Acadia's pricing may have greatly surprised uniformed analysts and investors, I greatly doubt it surprised professionals in the pharma business (i.e. those negotiating for ROW). If they were surprised, the level of surprise would have been more of the level of "we were expecting $300k and they have actually gone a bit higher at $375k"

Of course, it is to be fair somewhat understandable that many went with 'conservative' (read 'unrealistic') pricing numbers of ~$100k - not because these numbers were actually reasonable, but just because its still hard for many of those outside this space (including myself!) to get our heads around the huge prices these drugs command.
