by putting a bid or offer into the Closing Share Price Auction that runs for 10 minutes after the close of ordinary trading at 4pm. It's a bit of a scramble as people/brokers put in bids to try to manipulate the closing share price for the day. The ordinary punter has no hope as brokers use high frequency trading to put in or pull out bids or change their prices and the number of shares they're offering to buy or sell. Things can change in a fraction of a second right up until the final close. We are mere spectators to the action.
