Well explained Ken’s, hypothetically speaking let’s assume the original lender actually wants to increase their holdings and has lent out shares knowing fully the lent shares are being used to short the stock, what’s to stop them buying up stock during the falling SP and then demanding the shares be returned at the agreed date, sort of accumulating through the back door if you like, sure it’ll reduce the shorters margin but it’s a means to an end.
