Yes exactly. I didn't think the number of shorts was that large, but anyway. They often will drive the price down further (doubling down) but they are on both sides of the ledger since they don't incur brokerage fees. They are hoping to hit stop losses from traders and retail holders capitulate. Within 2 trading days if they can't get the volume, they require the SP naturally increases as they attempt to cover for the lowest price possible with the uncertainty they've helped created.
