A joint operation between municipal, provincial and federal agencies is investigating suspicious wildfires in the Grande Prairie area.

An alert sent out via the Alberta RCMP’s RAVE app program says the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, Alberta Forestry and Alberta RCMP Forestry Crimes Unit are working together to investigate several suspicious wildland fires.

“The suspicious fires have been in the areas of Resources Road, the Golf and Country Club and south Bear Creek Park.”

On May 30, a Facebook page: The REAL Grande Prairie – Alberta, hosted a post and photos from the page’s administrator Gezim Veliu.

Veliu was driving in the area of Resources and 60 Ave when he saw the blaze. He called 911 and waited for several minutes but left just before responders arrived.

Another fire in Crystal Lake Park on May 26th required numerous firefighters, police and EMS for several hours. No information about its cause has been released. However, RCMP did not include it in the media release or refer to it as being included in their investigations.

RCMP do ask that if anyone has information about any of the fires to call Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). You can also use P3tips.com

“Do not attempt to interrupt a crime in progress or approach suspicious person or vehicle. For crimes in progress call 911 immediately and state the call is in response to this Rave alert.”

Maybe this has something to do with the dip in Share price recently !..
