Being quite new and inexperienced re the sharemarket, I don't fully understand the SPP.
If anyone can please address the following I would appreciate it.
Given that my average cost is around $20, why wouldn't I sell a portion of my QBE holding, book it as a tax loss, and use the proceeds to repurchase via the SPP and therefore reduce my average cost? Do I need to sell my entire holding to book the tax loss or can it be done when only selling a portion?
I realise that there is a risk that I may not get my entire fill, but I guess I am banking on getting some of it at least.
Why would one participate in the SPP?
Why wouldn't one participate in the SPP?
Thanks to anyone who provides input.
