That .7245 cents paid in 1994 (if that is the year) would be the equivalent in today's money of $1.27 (see this from the Reserve Bank of Australia's website).

So, just for starters, you can't compare a yield earned in 2017 with a price paid in 1994 for a particular share. It is comparing apples and oranges, in other words, they can't be sensibly considered to be the same thing. They are NOT. You are comparing a $ at two different time periods and you cannot sensibly do this, because of the impact of inflation. 75 cents 22 years ago does not equal 75 cents in 2017.

As you can see above, the change in cost in today's money has risen 75.5% over the past 22 years thus that initial .7245 cents was far more valuable back when the CSR share was purchased than it is worth today simply because of INFLATION.

That is Lesson One.

The second lesson, attempted by nosirommit is the more important lesson, but you simply fail to understand so convincingly, I am sure he has now given up.

Inflation erodes the value of our $ over time. Simples. For those who think, anyway. lol

But you won't understand my point here either, I suspect. lol
