We become attached to the transient, but eventually, the transient leaves us, because that is what the transient does; appears and disappears. when it disappears, our attachment to it caused us pain; the pain of loss. Everything here is transient. Even the Sun will one day pass away. So everything that is gained or can be obtained from intimate personal relationships too is transient. What we all seek here is permanence. You hear of the Holy Grail - drink from it and you will be eternal. But the Holy Grail is not an object; it is a metaphor for something else. That something else cannot be found in relationships with other persons and it is that something else, the realisation of the infinite within, that we all seek whether it be on a conscious level and therefore known, or unconsciously and therefore unknown, or unrealised. Now the question is, “How to get that?”
