There are levels of trading (as I see it).

1. no idea about anything - wehere everyone starts.

2. learn about either or both of charting/fundamental analysis or even the movement of the planets (don't laugh, some of the top performing US newsletters are astrologers.) Seen astro-trader lately?? Maybe he's retired!

3. Develop your chosen skills. With TA (my chosen), start looking at backtesting your trading ideas.

4. TA again: look at optimizing your trading ideas.
5. TA: now look at optimizing your forward tests
6. Money management - that was what my original post was about, and it seems no one has the feintest idea what I'm on about.
7. Psychological aspects - the holy grail.
