Interesting you mention CPT- from memory the CEO there awarded himself a massive unwarranted pay rise too and copped so much backlash from shareholders he backed down and relinquished it. As far as I know he also ended up relinquishing his position entirely.
Top 20 shareholders are often though of as stalwart supporters of the company who just toe the line, but I think in the micro cap space that is not the case. They have all invested for the same reason as us - high risk/high reward. Their votes could easily be swayed towards a just cause that results in more funding for the company's operations and/or more competent leadership.
