Even the experts in those fields are wrong quite often. The facts are that brine lithium is more highly concentrated, easier to access and cheaper to get to production, than hard rock lithium and that the majority of lithium batteries produced use brine lithium rather than hard rock lithium because of the above reasons. So with China's demand for lithium set to rise by incredible amounts by 2020'ish, the demand will most likely be from brine lithium and not hard rock lithium, barring any new mining tech.
