t4p, given how much you rely on your computer, you may want to consider the following:
- RAID 1 (mirrored hard drives), so you do not lose data in the event of disk failure
- tape backup. Not too cheap, but use it to run an automated nightly backup, and just change the tape in the morning. Send 1 tape off site each week. That way you can get your data back in the event of total loss.
