    In answer to my own question:

    Proxy means substitute.

    In the world of AGMs proxy means a substitutethat represents (votes) a shareholders preferences at a meeting ontheir behalf.

    On completion of my online voting instruction I selected the chairman to enable the counting of mychosen position on the entire 4 proposals (vote) in my absence.
