Of course $1.25 is better than 80c, however I do not believe anyone outside the company really knows what happened.
If you cast your mind back to the composition of the board at the time that the Sunfocus deal went sour, you will find that there were directors representing, the 3 main holders plus the Chinese independent director, and there were WM, PH plus the three Aus independents. So there was no way the Chinese could have voted down the deal unless one of the independents sided with them. And that assumes it went to a vote.
