Which is to say that I would rather have the controlling party have the same aims as me (to make a profit) rather than set up rules to try to protect me from their conflicting aims.
and their aims do conflict - if their aims are to secure gold, then the SP is at best irrelevant, and dividends work against them - that money could be better spent (according to them) by mining more gold.
Actually a rising SP works against them as well, because it makes an eventual takeover more costly, should they decide to go that way.
