I short the actual indexes. Back and forward all night.
Grab 10-15 ticks then out, wait for the index to rally a bit, and then sell short again.
Not so simple, but I would rather trade the S&P, than the Russell. The Russell is to unpredictable. Some of the Growth stocks that make up that index are Oil companies and I think some nuclear, so they could provide support.
