Firing the the CEO and the Board doesn’t result in punishing those senior execs that were directly responsible. The smart thing to do in my opinion is to start changeing the Board but not all in one hit. Keep the CEO for say twelve months and have him be responsible for firing every exec that had direct responsibility , and have him ensure that the system is changed to meet compliance . I would also look at the role of internal auditors and want to know why this mess wasn’t detected sooner.
At around $24.50 I think I will take up the SPP. WBC is a fundamentally sound bank with good market share and when this blows over the dividend yield should be sustainable and anything from 5% to 6% fully franked
