I think what is more important is the market cap reflected by the shares. Obviously 2 billion shares is a lot, but if there where half as many shares then the current share price would be double. So judging things based on total shares is a bit irrelevant.
SDL only has a market cap of approx 320 million. If things turn out well for the company and they secure a strategic partner and financing for infrastructure than there is no reason why it cant have a market cap similar to FMG. Fortecue's MC is obviously down a long way from a year ago but I will use the 10 billion for my example anyway. In order for a 10b MC, SDL has to increase approx 30 times from where it is, giving a shares price of $4.65.
I would definitely be happy with a 3000% return
