I think of when Christopher Columbus arrived in N. America in 1492 and there were estimated to be 60million people living at one with nature. Taking what they needed to survive but respecting everything and being a part of what was there without changing it.

In Europe there was a similar number at about 75million on 50% of the land mass but they had already cut down the forests around the Mediterranean for ships and homes and they exported their lifestyle to N. America. They destroyed the ecology for the people living there with the bison destruction being one example.

Now the 60million are just 800,000 and the 30million bison are 20,000.

We live on a finite planet that has been stripped of most of the life that was here a few hundred years ago and dumped our waste where that life once was. The climate is a reflection of that change.
