    It may be valid but I'd lean towards crap data as well. From my experience I have contacted ASIC in the past on 2 occasions regarding short data for stocks I held. Some days the short position accrued or disposed of was in multiples of the total volume traded for the day (I believe it still has to be registered as trade even if fundies are trading amongst themselves, it just recieves a tag accordingly). They didn't haven a valid explanation aside from agreeing it was weird.
