INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT: MASSIVE EXPANSION OF QLD CSG PROJECT

"ShellandPetroChina Internationalwill expand the massive Surat coal seam gas (CSG) project in Queensland, ... which should provide supply for an increasingly stretched energy market."

"Gas from the project expansion will supply both domestic and export customers through the Queensland Curtis LNG plant near Gladstone. The project, the second phase of theArrow Energyjoint venture, is expected to supply 130 million cubic feet a day of gas at peak production, enough to power almost one million homes."

"Shell said the next phase of the Arrow development was part of a 27-year sales deal between Arrow andQGC, a division of the London-based oil and gas giant. In investor briefings last year, the company flagged that it would secure additional gas for its LNG facilities in Queensland “to increase value for shareholders”.

"The second phase of the project will require the drilling of up to 450 wells and the construction of 27 kilometres of pipelines, as well as other infrastructure upgrades."

    MY TAKE:
    • This multibillion dollar investment will be underpinned by drilling of hundreds of new gas wells, to support increased gas production.
    • Increased gas production, will lead to vast quantities of formation water, containing waste salts, in brine.
    • Despite enormous investment by the CSG industry over many years, there was no long term solution to treating these waste brines and salts, untilParkway Process Solutions(division of ASXWN) released Master Plan a year ago, which outlines a roadmap for the entire CSG industry in Queensland.
    • Our Master Plan, is available here:https://lnkd.in/gpQHT7Wd
    • Our Master Plan, is based on the most comprehensive industry-wide dataset available (compiled by PPS) and leverages our proprietary technologies in proven flowsheets, to convert these waste streams (liabilities) into valuable industrial products (revenues).
    • In our recentl quarterly report, we disclosed how we are using CSG brine, to produce not just caustic soda, but a mineral acid, which we believe to be an Australian first.
    • TheDepartment of State Development and Infrastructurein QLD last week published a Sulphuric Acid Supply Study, highlighting the rapidly growing demand (large forecast shortfall) for mineral acids to support the growing resource industry in Queensland.
    • In essence our technologies have the potential to improve the sustainability of one industry (energy), whilst supporting the growth of another (resources), true sustainability.
    • At PPS, we are resource industry and commodity agnostic. As our name suggests, we are focused on providing innovative solutions to complex problems facing industry.

We look forward to playing an important role in improving the sustainability of the CSG industry in Queensland.
