    With renewables getting cheaper and cheaper and more efficient how long will we need primitive fuels.

    Couldn't agree more.

    I'm sure most of us will be driving battery powered cars in ten years and maybe they will be driver-less too!
    Also in ten years time most of us will have our roof-top solar panels hooked up to a battery bank so we no longer need grid power.
    But oil will still have a future - our new airliners are plastic, maybe we will have plastic motor cars and plastic furniture?
