One more point I want to make.I dont think Shell are in the business of unfriendly or opportunistic off market takeovers.They dont really need to do that.If there is to be takeover by Shell it will be because there is a large valuable asset there and they want to own it exclusively.If it comes it will be a friendly,management approved takeover,taking into account future earnings,payouts of executives and convertable notes etc.Michael Evans has made no secret of the fact that this is what he is aiming for.Others have suggested Shell may want to build a blocking stake to keep unwanted low ball offers at bay until they were ready to proceed and this has some merit.
