The Burnet Institute is the leading research outfit in Australia for infectious diseases. It is one of 12 such institutes worldwide in a collaboration in HIV. 120 staff, receives partial funding from govt and recently won another govt grant.
The building and the equipment is very high tech and the people I have met there have explained their research impressively.
In short - they are very serious - this is where the innovative and new solutions to today's viruses are coming from.
The Burnet's CSO (Chief Scientific Officer) is one of the board members of Select. He knows his stuff and has been involved in Hep research from his Uni days a few decades ago, which led to the products currently in Select's arsenal.
And Select has the first right to commercialise their technologies.
