Goldman's has issued a big buy rec on gold and many well respect commentators (who predicted this aggressive sell of) are issuing strong buy recommendations across many of the smaller cap gold stocks in Canada and the US. The rhetoric is that the first leg of gold's new long term bull market has now peaked and corrected with the second leg about to commence (sometime in October). The first leg usually sees the larger/mid cap golds rally hard off their lows, as we saw, whilst the second leg also often includes a sharp rally in speculative names as the market gains confidence in the long-term sustainability of the rally. Throw in a string of news flow on ABU along with this 'spec specific' sector wide strength and you have a case for ABU trading well above 20c.
