True CJS. If you pay peanuts, you do get monkeys, but that's not to say there are no monkeys earning 500K either.

These sums don't exclude monkeys, they merely bring high performers with the 'monkeys' when contending for such critical positions. Its a prerequisite for attracting high quality individuals, yes, but not a guarantee of getting one. A subtle but real distinction.

Anyway, do I think Lee is a monkey? Certainly not. I just think there are far better ways to judge performance as this way sort of 'puts the cart before the horse'.

Not trying to be contentious, just think its worth mentioning.
