All the lights went out as it approached the support, then came back on when it was very close. Soon after that black smoke poured out of the exhaust and i'm wondering if they lost control when it lost power and they were desperately trying to get away from the support using bow thrusters?
Another factor is that they didn't go through the middle opening of the bridge as you would expect but went to the left. It does seem likely they kept losing power and were off course because of that but you would think there would be emergency back up power for the ships controls?
